[The Misfit was the most interesting character in the story because of the way that he was introduced and because of how the things he did played out in the story.] The way that The Misfit was thought of changes throughout the story multiple times. At the beginning, the grandmother introduces The Misfit into the story to her son, Bailey, as a person that has clearly done a large number of bad things. On the first page, she said "I wouldn't take my children in any direction to a criminal like that." Later on, in pages 14 to 22, The Misfit managed to change what the grandmother thought of him as a person once she had actually met him, by making her think that he was put in jail for no reason. Page 22 is the turning point at which The Misfit changes his own image again, except this time, the grandmother wouldn't be there for that change. One would think that The Misfit was an innocent man once he told the grandmother that he hadn't done anything wrong to get in jail, but the death of the grandmother would say otherwise.
